Ura Warisaya BiographyUra Warisaya became active in theater while a research student at Waseda Theater directed by Tadashi Suzuki in 1970. She found her true form when she began in 1976 to study Flamenco, first in Japan under Jose Migurel and Saburo Honma ; Later in Sevilla, Spain under Enrique "El Cojo". She gave her debut solo recital in 1983, presenting works by Fumiaki Nakamura and her own original works, Wind of Blood, Ada's Story, and Orpheus' Women.
Her signature work, The Death of a Matador has been performed throughout Japan, celebrating its 10th anniversary in 1994. This work is available on video. Ms. Warisaya has won prizes for her work in Japan, and was the subject of a special TV documentary entitled "Burning Stage: Iam Flamenco," broadcast nationwide in 1986.
Today she creates her own world in works on the theme of love and death, using Flamenco thechniques. Based in Tokyo, she performs in theaters, concert halls and dinnershowes throughout Japan, and is also known as amaster teacher. She had performed in New York in 1996 and 1997.
